Kuruvi Review

Vijay starrer ‘Kuruvi’ brings back the ‘Gilli’ team again. The Vijay, Trisha, Dharani andVidyasagar combinations and ‘Gilli’ turned out to be a racy entertainer expecting the sameagain in Kuruvi.

The movie is about Vetrivel (Vijay), a car racer in Chennai, who sets out to free his father Singamuthu (Manivannan) and his co-workers who are bonded laborers in a diamond mine run by Kocha (Suman) trisha's brother.
In the meantime, he also finds time to romance Kocha's sister Devi (Trisha), who falls inlove when he comes to her brother's place in Malaysia as part of his mission. The chemistry between Trisha and Vijay acts as a special but missing something in kuruvi. The bubbly Trisha fits well to the movie. Though she has limited scope to perform, unlike‘Gilli’, She is used for comedy & songs. Suman continues from where he left in‘Sivaji’.Viveks comedy is not that much good.

All credit to Vijay, who manages to leave his screen presence in his usual self. He fights, romances and tries his hand at comedy. The actor with a mass fan-following has tried much tofly high.

Overall, Kuruvi is an entertainer but never stands near GILLI.

Bheema - Review

Bheema - The story is all about a war between two underworld gangs trying to push each other. Periyavar’s (Raghuvaran) group is bigger and more powerful, while Chinna’s (Prakash Raj) group is struggling to gain strength.Enters Shekar (Vikram). The powerful man adds new life to Chinna’s gang. He challenges Periyavar’s powerful troupe and puts China on top. He is the man who grew up seeing Chinna as his ideal. He is a man of steel - physically and mentally. He, as Chinna tells once, bears everyone on his powerful shoulders like the Bheema of Mahabharatha.

The gangs are targeted by the new police commissioner (Ashish Vidyarthi) and the three pronged hunting begins.Vikram has lived up to the character & raised the performance. If his hard work to become physically strong is praise worthy, his efforts to transform himself as the character are stunning. He reflects the essence of the character both physically and mentally.

Trisha gets her share in the action movie and succeeds in adding colour to the film by spreading her charm. She looks ravishingly beautiful in songs. Her eyes and minute facial expressions are pleasing.

Overall Bheema is average weight.

Anjathey - Review

Anjathey is all about two friends, whose roles in the life are swapped in a sudden change of lucks. Sathyanathan (Narain) and Krupakaran (Ajmal) are sons of police constables living in a police colony trying to become police themselfs.Narain, decides to compete for SI selection & joins as SI but at the same time, Ajmal turns into rowdy on loosing the chance to become SI. The rest of the story is about the drastic changes in their lives and how they deal with them.

Mysskin has made the film with style and substance. His execution of the film is smart and effective. He has executed many scenes well. The second kidnapping incident is one such scene. The emotion of the father of the victimized girl is moving. The director has made the scene multi dimensional by putting together the emotion of the father and daughter, the guilty feelings of Kripa, and the determined hunt of the police force.

Prasanna, playing the villan role on 100% stands in mind. That you never get bored despite the length (3 hours and 10 minutes) is a testimony to the talent of the director. The length of the climax is the only time when the narrative is dragged.

Love Story 2050 - Review

The Timemachince Story - Karan [Harman Baweja], a young boy & Sana [Priyanka Chopra], a petite, shy girl lives life by the rules. Opposites attracts and love blossoms. Karan's Boman Irani much developed time machine that finally works. Sana expresses her wish to travel ahead in time to Mumbai with that machine. But there's an accident…Mumbai 2050. Flying cars, robots and sky rails have changed the face of Mumbai. Through a series of twists and turns, Karan finds himself separating from his love. Meanwhile, Dr. Yatinder and Karan are under threat from Dr. Hoshi.

The 1st Half goes on and on as the usual boy meets girl , tries to impress her. Then comes the 2nd half, the journey into the future. No doubt the special effects really draw you into the future but here too the movie drags on and on with a bunch of silly songs ‘Loverboy will u be my toy’ etc. The 2nd half seriously requires patience to watch.

Music by Anu Malik is just ok.

Priyanka Chopra does a lot in supporting Harman. She is not well used in the movie.
